Why the South West London Elective
Orthopaedic Centre for your Private Treatment?

The Elective Orthopaedic Centre treats patients requiring a range of operations.

Leading Surgeons from across the South West London area operate within the centre. Our Surgeons are world-renowned with a wealth of experience and a proven track record.

Our nursing and Physiotherapy staff are both dedicated and specialised in the field of Orthopaedic care ensuring you receive the best possible rehabilitation after your operation.

Our Physiotherapy team will carry out a range of post-operative exercises with you each day during your in-patient stay and will plan with you your rehabilitation programme following your discharge.

We will provide you with an education and pre assessment session prior to your operation with our specialist nursing and discharge team. Starting at Pre Assessment they will follow the process through the centre ensuring everything is in place for when you go home. Patients really find the time in their pre assessment session helpful and informative.

The centre has facilities for high dependency and intensive care which means we can offer surgery to patients with a wide range of medical problems.

During your In-patient stay you will be based within a 25 bedded ward. Each ward contains single rooms and spacious bays with 4 beds all with en-suite facilities. Each bed has its own television and telephone facilities. The ward is bright and modern and we aim to provide an environment more like home to encourage a better recovery.

What is the next step?

Are you in pain and have decreased mobility due to your painful joints? Or a sports injury and want almost immediate treatment without having to go to on a six month NHS waiting list? If so then the answer for you may be to have your treatment privately.

We have two categories of private patients here at SWLEOC which are Insurance patients and Self Funding  patients.

Insurance Patients

You will need to start by contacting your local GP and if both you and your GP are in agreement that you require an operation then your GP will refer you to your local specialist orthopaedic surgeon. You will then be contacted by your specialist for a consultation, you can then discuss with the specialist that you have private insurance cover and would like to be admitted as a private patient to SWLEOC. If your consultant agrees that an operation is required,  then you will need to contact your insurance company to confirm that your required treatment is covered in your policy and to inform the insurance company that you would like to have your operation at SWLEOC. If your insurance company agress that you are covered then you can contact the private patient team on 01372 735 876 who will arrange a pre assessment and operation date.

Self Funding

If you do not have private Insurance or the specific operation you require is not covered within your insurance policy, but you still want to be admitted as a private patient, then you do have the option to self fund your operation.

You will find our charges are extremely competitive as all our prices include the cost of prosthesis.

Also included in the package costs are:
  • All your nursing and physiotherapy care during your in-patient stay
  • Your surgeon and anaesthetic fees during your in-patient stay.
  • Accommodation and food for up to six nights stay.
